ARE YOU RESOLUTE IN YOUR WALK WITH JESUS ?

2/4/2020

There is perhaps no greater moment in a Christian’s life than when they come to Jesus and accept Him as their Savior. It can be a moment of great emotion where one literally comes to tears as they release their struggles and sins to the one person who can heal them and bring new life. For others, salvation is a process that reaches its conclusion after a long road of intellectual thought and logical conflict. There are also those for whom salvation is a comfortable decision based on personal or familial values and choice. No matter how one comes to Jesus, the result is truly life altering in the moment. As Christians, we have died to our old self and been reborn into a new creation. That moment is the epitome of the hope for a new life and the promise of a future sealed in God’s promise of eternal life. Thus begins the journey for each of us in what we call “Our walk with God”. The question going forward is what exactly does that walk look like ? We are in luck, for in His Word, God gives us a great picture of exactly what our walk should be.

YOU SHALL WALK IN ALL THE WAY THAT THE LORD YOUR GOD HAS COMMANDED YOU, THAT YOU MAY LIVE, AND THAT IT MAY GO WELL WITH YOU, AND THAT YOU MAY LIVE LONG IN THE LAND THAT YOU SHALL POSSESS. Deuteronomy 5:33

FOR WE ARE HIS WORKMANSHIP, CREATED IN CHRIST JESUS FOR GOOD WORKS, WHICH GOD PREPARED BEFOREHAND, THAT WE SHOULD WALK IN THEM. Ephesians 2:10

THEREFORE, AS YOU RECEIVED CHRIST JESUS THE LORD, SO WALK IN HIM. Colossians 2:6

God makes it clear that we are to walk in His ways. We are exactly who He created us to be, and that means we should do good works that He has already put in our hearts and minds. His commandments show us the roadmap on how to live our lives, so it becomes an absolute necessity to be in His Word daily and to be focused and eager to learn exactly what He wants to show each of us. Once we are in His Word a whole new perspective opens up to us. The Torah gives us the beginning commandments that God set before the Jewish people to show them His ways and how He wanted them to live and worship Him. That knowledge is as relevant today to us as Christians as it was for the Jewish people at the time of Moses. In Jesus, we are able to see how God moved to regain His relationship with a fallen mankind, as Jesus took on our sin in a permanent way and with His death and ressurection gave us a path into God’s Kingdom and eternal life. Jesus fulfilled the commandments of God in how He lived, and He created the way for us to become cleansed in the sight of the Father as we become a part of Him.

IF WE CONFESS OUR SINS, HE IS FAITHFUL AND JUST TO FOREGIVE US OUR SINS AND TO CLEANSE US FROM ALL UNRIGHTEOUSNESS. John 1:9

We are free ! Jesus has given us the path to life ! Now is the time to start walking with Him. We do that by changing our focus from ourselves to Him. We hunger to be in His presence, learning all we can about Him. His teaching, His parables. How He lived and how He interacted with others and what He focused His efforts and trust toward. He looked to His Father in everything, and He continually spoke of the Kingdom of God, teaching those around Him the keys to gaining an understanding of what It was and what It meant in their lives. He lived to glorify God and His Kingdom, and as followers of Jesus, so must we.

DO NOT BE CONFORMED TO THIS WORLD, BUT BE TRANSFORMED BY THE RENEWAL OF YOUR MIND, THAT BY TESTING YOU MAY DISCERN WHAT IS THE WILL OF GOD, WHAT IS GOOD AND ACCEPTABLE, AND PERFECT. Romans 12:2

What we all must focus on is being resolute in our walk with Jesus. Resolute means adamant, bold, courageous, persistent, relentless, steadfast, constant, unwavering and strong ! That is what Jesus desires for us to be. That means being in His Word all the time, not once in a while. It means talking to Him constantly and listening fervently for His voice and guidance. It means living as He purposed us, righteous and humble, finding our strength in Him, not ourselves. It means going into the world around you and sowing Love, Grace, Hope and Mercy, while sharing His story through the Gospel and then making disciples everywhere you go. Striving to grow in Him and “Teaching others about Him that all may be made perfect in Him”. He has so much more for us than just Salvation. He has a complete and amazing life for each of us as we abide in Him and walk with Him.

The choice to walk with him is yours alone. No one can make that decision for you, including Jesus. He desires that for you deeply, but we do have the gift and conundrum of free will. I can only tell you this…. once you start to walk and seek His help and guidance, your life will change. You will wrestle and you will struggle at times, but if you stay the path, the treasures of Heaven surely await you. My prayer is that you may be resolute. I look forward to someday seeing you in His Kingdom :)

SO DO NOT LET WHAT YOU REGARD AS GOOD BE SPOKEN OF AS EVIL. FOR THE KINGDOM OF GOD IS NOT A MATTER OF EATING AND DRINKING; BUT OF RIGHTEOUSNESS AND PEACE AND JOY IN THE HOLY SPIRIT. WHOEVER THUS SERVES CHRIST IS ACCEPTABLE TO GOD AND APPROVED BY MEN. SO THEN LET US PURSUE WHAT MAKES FOR PEACE AND FOR MUTUAL UPBUILDING. Romans 14:16-19
