WHAT YOU DWELL ON WILL CONSUME YOU...IS IT GOD ?

What is it that consumes your life ? Where do you spend your time and attention ? Our pastor at Brave Church ( see ministries we support ) asked us that very question this morning. It struck me how easy it is to find ourselves caught up in something other that God and His Kingdom. The world today is presenting plenty of opportunity to dwell on things that are affecting our life in a way that truly pulls us away from God Are you caught up in the flesh ? That has a myriad of paths that one can follow. Are you caught up in anxiety ? All of us spend time thinking about things that we fear, or have concern about. Do you notice that unlike the world and worldly things, God directs us toward Righteousness and Holiness, and Hope. The world draws us into emotion, and speculation, and desires that often run directly opposite of what God has in mind for us. God’s word makes it crystal clear where His focus is for us.

HE HAS TOLD YOU, O MAN, WHAT IS GOOD; AND WHAT DOES THE LORD REQUIRE OF YOU BUT TO DO JUSTICE, AND TO LOVE KINDNESS, AND TO WALK HUMBLY WITH YOUR GOD. Micah 6:8

THIS IS GOOD, AND IT IS PLEASING IN THE SIGHT OF GOD OUR SAVIOR, WHO DESIRES ALL PEOPLE TO BE SAVED AND TO COME TO THE KNOWLEDGE OF TRUTH. 1 Timothy 2: 3-4

FOR GOD GAVE US A SPIRIT NOT OF FEAR, BUT OF POWER AND LOVE AND SELF CONTROL. 2 Timothy 1:7

FOR I KNOW THE PLANS I HAVE FOR YOU, DECLARES THE LORD, PLANS FOR WELFARE AND NOT FOR EVIL, TO GIVE YOU A FUTURE AND A HOPE. Jeremiah 29:11

What an amazing plan. God wants a relationship with us, first and foremost. He wants us to know Him, to be saved, and to gain KNOWLEDGE OF TRUTH ! He made us in His image, giving us a spirit of power and self control, not fear and all that comes with it. He has a plan for each one of us, for welfare, not evil and it’s relentless destruction. In Him we have a future and a hope. Ahh, the struggle…. and it is oh so real. ” HOW DO I GET THERE GOD” ? The following things are several of the keys for a Christian and a non believer to find God, and importantly, to “ Dwell On God”.

Ask God Into Your Life In A Personal Way - That means that you have to communicate with Him intimately about your life. Talk to Him openly and often by building a Prayer Life that goes much deeper than the occasional chat. It requires a time commitment, and a desire change. A need and a desperation to be near Him and know that He hears you and is listening. A solid Prayer Life becomes second nature when you do it over and over. It Connects You To Him In All Areas Of Your Life.

Become Dependent on God - That means Building The Foundation of Your Identity in Him ! Pouring yourself into and understanding of who He is, and especially gaining an understanding of His instruction by reading and meditating on His Word.

Seek God’s Truth and let it Lead You. His truth will provide you with answers to a multitude of things that the world is continually in argumentation and disagreement about. God’s word is absolute, inerrant, and it doesn’t change. It has existed from our very creation, and it is not subject to societal and cultural change, nor to man’s sinful nature.

Where will it lead you ? To Peace and Restoration !

BUT THOSE WHO HOPE IN THE LORD WILL RENEW THEIR STRENGTH. THEY WILL SOAR ON WINGS LIKE EAGLES. THEY WILL RUN AND NOT GROW WEARY; THEY WILL WALK AND NOT BE FAINT. Isaiah 40:31

AND THE GOD OF ALL GRACE, WHO CALLED YOU TO HIS ETERNAL GLORY IN CHRIST, AFTER YOU HAVE SUFFERED A LITTLE WHILE, WILL HIMSELF RESTORE YOU AND MAKE YOU STRONG, FIRM, AND STEADFAST. 1 Peter 5:10

Peace and Restoration come when you center your life and being on the salvation and gift of Jesus. Your chance to be reborn; different than you were before, with a new spirit, a new truth, and an abiding hope of sharing His Kingdom unto eternity. The world offers temporary pleasure, steeped in a life of always questioning your steps, your motives, and your path. The world will NEVER satisfy your heart,…it will only play with your mind.

Honor God. Seek truth and let it lead you. Recognize Him as the Lord of your life. Seek His Word and Obey Him. Love Him, Love His Values, and Love being freed from sin. Purity and Righteousness await you. In all you do, Reflect Him In Your Life And always remember. What You Dwell On Will Consume You. Make it Him/JAA

MAY THE GOD OF HOPE FILL YOU WITH ALL JOY AND PEACE AS YOU TRUST IN HIM, SO THAT YOU MAY OVERFLOW WITH HOPE BY THE POWER OF THE HOLY SPIRIT. Romans 15:13
