GOD'S WORD AND DISCERNING THE TRUTH THROUGH HIS WISDOM

7/21/2020

One of the most important things in my life as I follow Christ is to feel that I am hearing Truth. When I say Truth, I mean God’s Truth. It is that subtle way to know that God helps us to see the things that truly require our eyes and ears to be open and tuned to His Word. The world around us loves to provide what I call noise that wants to distract us from the things of God. Often it tends to come from christians or the church voice that wants to focus on what Jesus would be like today, and all the cultural issues that He would immerse Himself into. Social Justice, poverty, economic inequality, politics, what I like to call emotional endeavor and the self focus of mankind. Working so hard to set up a diatribe of shame and sureness about defining what Jesus would deem to be important. I find it really interesting to look at Jesus and what He was focused on when He was on the earth. The Roman Empire was a brutal and tyrannical force at the time, and yet, Jesus was not debating their policies, nor their issues. He was not looking at wealth inequality, or playing sides. Jesus was focused on Kingdom, Righteousness, and showing people a path in their lives that would lead to God’s Truth. He was showing mankind how to live in a Kingdom manner, focusing on a life beyond the daily, pointing toward the eternal. Focusing on how the Word of God sets your foundation and defines your principles and priorities. He was in fact showing the Jewish leaders how their misunderstanding of God’s Word was actually a barrier to people understanding God and being in relationship with Him. Perhaps even leading them away from the very mercy, forgiveness, and relationship that God had promised Abraham so long ago.

THEY SHALL SPEAK OF THE GLORY OF YOUR KINGDOM AND TALK OF YOUR POWER; TO MAKE KNOWN TO THE SONS OF MEN YOUR MIGHTY ACTS AND THE GLORY OF THE MAJESTY OF YOUR KINGDOM. YOUR KINGDOM IS AN EVERLASTING KINGDOM, AND YOUR DOMINION ENDURES THROUGHOUT ALL GENERATIONS. Psalm 145: 11-13

“ SINCE THEN , YOU HAVE BEEN RAISED WITH CHRIST, SET YOUR HEART ON THINGS ABOVE, WHERE CHRIST IS SEATED AT THE RIGHT HAND OF GOD. SET YOUR MINDS ON THINGS ABOVE, NOT ON EARTHLY THINGS. FOR YOU DIED, AND YOUR LIFE IS NOW HIDDEN WITH CHRIST IN GOD. WHEN CHRIST, WHO IS YOUR LIFE, APPEARS, THEN YOU WILL ALSO APPEAR WITH HIM IN GLORY. Colossians 3: 1-4

BUT THE WISDOM FROM ABOVE IS FIRST PURE, THEN PEACEABLE, GENTLE, OPEN TO REASON, FULL OF MERCY AND GOOD FRUITS, IMPARTIAL AND SINCERE. James 3:17

How interesting when we see that our hearts and our minds need to be set on things above, not earthly things. It becomes a choice. Do I engage in a constant focus on all the myriad of issues that seem to flood our media sources, our conversations, and our concerns for our society ? Do I let the world and it’s problems overwhelm me ? Do I listen to the people who seem to either have no use for God, or simply live by reliance on self ? Is my church helping me to grow and mature, and is God’s word the focus of teaching and a desire to help us grow in our relationship with God and serve His Kingdom ? Am I more concerned that the world is a place of uniformity and fairness, or should my focus be on Knowing God, Seeking His Kingdom, and Making Disciples By Sharing The Gospel ? DOES OUR TRUTH AND WISDOM COME FROM GOD, OR MEN ?

THE FEAR OF THE LORD IS THE BEGINNING OF WISDOM, AND THE KNOWLEDGE OF THE HOLY ONE IS INSIGHT. Proverbs 9:10

WHOEVER TRUSTS IN HIS OWN MIND IS A FOOL, BUT HE WHO WALKS IN WISDOM WILL BE DELIVERED. Proverbs 28:26

Gaining wisdom and truth finds it’s beginning and end in God’s Word and building a personal relationship with Jesus. The world is constantly crying out for solutions, and equality, and yet what seems to come most often is anger, dispute, and an inability to listen to each other and find any kind of common ground. One thing seems to be very clear…..the world is being shaken. Government vs. government, politics vs. culture, man vs man. I implore you to open the Scriptures and see the “Richness of God’s Instruction and Grace”. Your search for Wisdom and Discernment will find it’s beginning and sure path in those Words, and the simplicity and beauty of God’s Truth will fill your life in Hope and Completeness. The most incredible thing about God’s Word is that you truly see Him. We see His Power, His Strength and His Love. We see His Justice, and His Commandments, and His Desires. Truth and Hope. Wisdom and Discernment. All it takes is effort on our part to ask Him to show us….He does all the rest :) Seek Him and His Word/JAA

“TO YOU , O GOD OF MY FATHERS, I GIVE THANKS AND PRAISE, FOR YOU HAVE GIVEN ME WISDOM AND MIGHT, AND HAVE NOW MADE KNOWN TO ME WHAT WE ASKED OF YOU, FOR YOU HAVE MADE KNOWN TO US THE KING’S MATTER.” Daniel 2:23
