IS GOD'S WORD RELEVANT TODAY ?
Is God’s Word Relevant Today ? It seems like a pretty simple question, and yet as we look around the world today, we see plenty of places and people who have absolutely “No Interest”in the Word Of God. Many of these people simply have no Spiritual belief system. Others have a belief system that revolves around some Great Cosmic Energy Force that somehow holds everything together, and in some way, they are a part of that. Very often we see progressive churches that have siphoned off the parts of Scripture that they like and can support, while throwing away the parts of God and His Word that don’t fit their picture of the god or god’s they want to like and believe in. Is it any wonder that with all the add-ons, re-defines and twisting of meanings that we have such a struggle to see the basic Truth and Power and Authority that comes from God’s Word ? Many people struggle with the concept of God’s Word being inerrant. Others struggle to interpret words, phrases, and meaning of original language and root words that have been “changed” to fit more easily understood concepts by today’s culture. So we find ourselves wondering, as times change, people change, and culture changes, can God’s Word still be relevant in our lives ? Well, the Truth is that for as long as mankind has existed, we have always questioned God and His Relevance. IN the Garden; IN Babylon; IN the Struggle of Egypt; IN the Wilderness; and All The Way To A Crucifixion, Burial, and Resurrection. Mankind has always wanted to be in control. Ourselves on the throne. Infinitely wise, all seeing, free to choose, able to master everything …...well, almost. You see, ONLY GOD HAS THE POWER TO DETERMINE OUR ETERNITY.
FOR THE WORD OF GOD IS LIVING AND ACTIVE, SHARPER THAN ANY TWO-EDGED SWORD, PIERCING TO THE DIVISION OF SOUL AND OF SPIRIT, OF JOINTS AND OF MARROW, AND DISCERNING THE THOUGHTS AND INTENTIONS OF THE HEART. Hebrews 4:12
YOUR WORD IS A LAMP TO MY FEET AND A LIGHT TO MY PATH. Psalm 119:105
HEAVEN AND EARTH WILL PASS AWAY, BUT MY WORDS WILL NOT PASS AWAY. Matthew 24:35
ALL SCRIPTURE IS BREATHED OUT BY GOD AND PROFITABLE FOR TEACHING, FOR REPROOF, FOR CORRECTION, AND FOR TRAINING IN RIGHTEOUSNESS. 2 Timothy 3:16
When I read the Word of God, IT SHOUTS RELEVANCE INTO THE CORE OF MY BEING :) God’s Word Is ALIVE ! God’s Word Is ACTIVE ! It moves in my Spirit and Soul to make me UNIQUELY WHO I AM ! Showing me where I am, and lighting my path ahead. Teaching me, correcting me, training me TO ACHIEVE RIGHTEOUSNESS ! PERHAPS MOST IMPORTANTLY OF ALL, GOD”S WORD TESTIFIES AND SHOWS US OUR LORD AND SAVIOR JESUS !!! It opens our hearts to recognize our need for Him, It allows us to HEAR His Words, and SEE His actions. In HIM, we are able to be REBORN. Our lives are regenerated into something Fresh and New. A New Creation. Dead to our old self, and Resurrected in His Authority and Power to the Position of Son and Daughter of the Most High God. True Citizens of The Kingdom Of God :) Our very person is “Filled” with the Spirit of God, and we move forth into our lives and the world to Bring Others The Good News Of The Gospel ! I CALL THAT RELEVANT; ABOUT AS RELEVANT AS ANYTHING GETS ! You see, God’s Word is Life For Us. It is our Daily Bread. It nourishes us and builds us up. It instructs us in every part of our life.
YOUR WORDS WERE FOUND, AND I ATE THEM. YOUR WORDS BECAME A DELIGHT TO ME AND THE JOY OF MY HEART, FOR I BEAR YOUR NAME, LORD GOD OF ARMIES. Jeremiah 15:16
CONSIDER HOW I LOVE YOUR PRECEPTS; LORD GIVE ME LIFE ACCORDING TO YOUR FAITHFUL LOVE. THE ENTIRETY OF YOUR WORD IN TRUTH, EACH OF YOUR RIGHTEOUS JUDGEMENTS ENDURES FOREVER. Psalm 119: 159-160
LORD, YOUR WORD IS FOREVER, IT IS FIRMLY FIXED IN HEAVEN. YOUR FAITHFULNESS IS FOR ALL GENERATIONS; YOU ESTABLISHED THE EARTH, AND IT STANDS FIRM. Psalm 119: 89-90
God’s Word must be consumed in it’s entirety. God’s Word must live inside of you. We must DELIGHT IN IT. IT MUST BE THE JOY OF OUR HEARTS ! We spend so much time chasing worldly desires. Seeking momentary pleasures and goals. IMAGINE what our lives would be like if we spent a lot more time in God’s Word…..would we Hear His Voice More ? Would We Be More At Peace in our daily lives ? Would Joy Overwhelm Us ? Would We Truly Be Able To Do Even More Miracles than Jesus did as We Embrace The Holy Spirit ? SO MANY QUESTIONS. The beauty for us is that all the answers that we are searching for are right before our eyes and at our fingertips. OPEN GOD”S WORD AND LET IT BREATHE NEW LIFE INTO YOU :)
